FIM World Superbike Round 1: Philip Island

Round one of the 2014 FIM World Superbike season was run at Philip Island in Victoria, Australia, last weekend.  Eugene Laverty of Ireland won race one on his Suzuki, while in race two, Sylvain Guintoli from France, on his Aprilia.  Laverty gives Suzuki it's first win in FIM World Superbike in four years.  In the FIM World Supersport race, which was the other race on the bill... victory went to Turkey's Kenan Sofuogulu.  So, here are the winners:

World Superbike race 1: #58 Eugene Laverty     IRL.     Voltcom Crescent Suzuki Suzuki GSXR1000
World Superbike race 2: #50 Sylvain Guintoli     FRA.    Aprilia Racing Team Aprilia RSV4 Factory
World Supersport race: #54 Kenan Sofuoglu      TUR.    MAHI Racing Team India Kawasaki ZX6R

The Superstock 1000 and Superstock 600 riders do not start their season until a bit later in the year.  There will be over a month's break before round two of the championship, which is slated to happen the second week of April at Motorland Aragon, in Aragon, Spain.

Bike Road Racing Series round 7: Scarborough (abbreviated highlights)

Michael Dunlop stunned his rival Guy Martin in round seven of the Bike Road Racing Series... the Scarborough Gold Cup.  Last time out, Martin had beaten Dunlop in his backyard at the Ulster Grand Prix.  Well, this time, Dunlop said, "hey man, look what I can do", and beat Martin on his home turf.  Crash.net has the race report summary.

Bike Road Racing Series Round 6: Ulster Grand Prix (abbreviated highlights)

SPEED2, which carried online broadcasts for the Bike Road Racing Series... has disappeared.  So, the next few races will all be briefly highlighted in this post, based on their results.  The Ulster Grand Prix at the Dundrod circuit came out in this fashion.  Here were the top three finishers from each class in each race.

2014 FIM World Superbike Championship race schedule

The 2014 schedule for the FIM World Superbike Championship, has been revealed, with new races coming to the Sepang circuit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on June 8th and the Phakisa Freeway circuit in South Africa, along with one event yet to be confirmed that will end the season on November 2nd.
