In round eight in the United States at Laguna Seca Raceway in Monterey, California, it was time for the World Superbikes to shine with none of their other FIM classes they race with, there. The support races, came from the AMA, and those have already been blogged here. In race one at Laguna Seca, it was Marco Melandri and Aprilia spoiling Tom Sykes' and Kawasaki's party. But, in race two, Sykes came back and told the other competitors, "I'm still here!", with a win.
Actually, Sykes was third, on the podium for race one. Sylvain Guintoli finished second in both races.
FIM World Superbike race 1: #33 Marco Melandri ITA. Aprilia Racing Team Aprilia RSV4 Factory
FIM World Superbike race 2: #1 Tom Sykes GBR. Kawasaki Racing Team Kawasaki ZX-10-R
Just four races remain in the 2014 FIM World Superbike season. Right now, it is summer break and the teams will have almost two months off, picking up the action again, in September, at the Jerez de la Frontera circuit in Jerez, Spain.
