Moto 2 & Moto 3: Valencia (season finale races & 2014 champions)

The 2014 season also ended for Moto 2 and Moto 3 competitors in Valencia, Spain, last weekend.  Tom Luthi won the race followed on the podium by Tito Rabat, and Johann Zarco.  With his second place finish, Tito Rabat is the 2014 Moto 2 World Champion!

Luis Salom and Xavier Simeon round out the top five in the race classification.  In sixth through tenth, it was Dominique Aegerter, Sam Lowes, Marcel Schrotter, Anthony West, and Lorenzo Baldassari.  28 bikes out of 35 starters, were classified as finishers.  Mattia Pasini, Lucas Mahias, Julian Simon, Axel Pons, and Maverick Vinales (who is moving to MotoGP next year with Suzuki), did not finish the race.

Sadly, two other Moto 2 stalwarts, shockingly, did not even turn a lap.  Mika Kallio and Sandro Cortese, were out of the race before it even began.

In Moto 3, Jack Miller, won the race, and the championship.  The Australian, will skip Moto 2 altogether, and go straight to MotoGP in 2015.  Isaac Vinales, and Alex Marquez finished second and third, and with his podium placing, Alex Marquez is the 2014 Moto 3 World Champion!  He is following in the footsteps of his older brother, two-time MotoGP champ, Marc Marquez, for sure.

Completing the top five were Danny Kent and Alex Rins.  While, in sixth through tenth, it was Efren Vazquez, Niccolo Antonelli, Miguel Oliviera, Brad Binder, and Karel Hanika.  Once again, 28 of 34 riders in the field were classified finishers.  Niklas Ajo, Jorge Navarro, Scott Deroue, Jules Danilo, Gabriel Rodrigo, and Philipp Oettl, were DNF's.
