Moto 2 and Moto 3 also had their season opening races in Qatar. In the Moto 2 race, Johann Zarco was the winner, followed on the podium by Sam Lowes, and last year's champion, Tito Rabat. Tom Luthi, and Sandro Cortese, rounded out the top five. In positions six through ten, it was Franco Morbidelli, Jonas Folger, Xavier Simeon, Luis Salom, and Alex Rins. All 30 bikes that started the race, were classified finishers.

In Moto 3 action, Frenchman Alexis Masbou was the winner, followed by Enea Bastianinni, and Danny Kent, to round out the podium. Efren Vazquez and John McPhee rounded out the top five. Completing the top ten were Isaac Vinales, Fabio Quartararo, Niccolo Antonelli, Francesco Bagnaia, and Brad Binder. 29 riders were classified finishers, while some, were not, including Romano Fenati, Livio Loi, Hiroki Ono, Remy Gardner (son of multiple 500cc Grand Prix champion, Wayne Gardner), and Niklas Ajo.
#10 Alexis Masbou FRA. Honda
