Moto 2 & Moto 3: Japan

In Moto2 action at Motegi, dominant champion, Johann Zarco, wins again, ahead of a couple surprise podium finishers in the form of Jonas Folger and Sandro Cortese.  The two Germans each had good races.  Azlan Shah and Hafizh Syahrin, (both from Malaysia), completed the top five.  In sixth through tenth, came Ricard Cardus, Simone Corsi, Sam Lowes, Marcel Schrotter, and Randy Krummenacher.

Some of the Moto2 big names were further down the order.  23 bikes and riders were classified at the end of the race.  Unclassified finishers included Luis Salom, Thitipong Warokorn, Tom Luthi, Xavier Simeon, Xavi Vierge, Axel Pons, and Australian wildcard rider, Joshua Hook.

#5 Johann Zarco     FRA.     Kalex

Niccolo Antonelli scored a surprise win in Moto3.  It is another win for him this year.  He was followed on the podium by Miguel Oliveira and the rapidly improving Jorge Navarro.  Isaac Vinales and Zulfahmi Khairuddin, rounded out the top five finishers.  Moto3 champ Danny Kent, could only muster a sixth place, ahead of Enea Bastianini, Karel Hanika, John McPhee, and Efren Vazquez.  In this event, 29 riders classified as finishers.  Ana Carrasco was the last classified rider.

Retirements from the race included Remy Gardner, Livio Loi, Hiroki Ono, Japanese wildcard entry Ryo Mizuno, Alexis Masbou, and Alessandro Tonucci.

Moto2 and Moto3 join their big brothers in MotoGP, next time out, next weekend, for the race in Australia, and Philip Island in the Victoria region of Australia.
