This blog is dedicated to reporting on motorcycle racing, a recently acquired interest to someone who has followed races on four wheels for nearly two decades. Just a way to add some variety to my motorsports fascination. Covered here will be numerous races from the American and European championships for motorcycles. The American Motorcyclist Association, and the FIM (Federation International de Motorcyclisme).

Moto 2: Qatar (4/8/12)
Moto 2:
Thomas Luthi has pole for the Moto 2 race in Qatar. At the start, Luthi takes the lead. Esteve Rabat and Toni Elias also had good starts. Luthi keeps the lead of the race right now as Marc Marquez of Spain takes the lead. Recovering the lead from Marquez is Spaniard Pol Espargaro. Brit Scott Redding is moving up, too. Alex de Angelis is also up at the sharp end of this field. Italian Andrea Ianonne is second, with Marc Marques just behind. Luthi sets his personal best lap of the race so far as does Brad Smith.
Five of 20 laps are complete. Leading now is Pol Espargaro. Bradley Smith is not feeling well, but he seems like he'll ride through it. Iannoni and Marques as well as Corsi have picked up positions. Scott Redding tries to close up on Brad Smith, and may have made the pass already. Right now, Iannoni and Marc Marques battle. Smith is actually ninth coming under pressure from Alex de Angelis. Gino Rea is 25th, two seconds behind the leaders. Ten laps to go. There is some mid pack scrambling.
Marco Marques was dealing with an eye injury, but he has well recovered. He goes deep into turn one with nine laps left. Scott Redding is stuck behind another rider right now, halting his charge. Ianonni runs deep into a corner, battling with Marques another time. Iannoni is still moving up. One lap to go. Luthi is battling Tito Rebat. Mike Demeglio is also in this scrap. Luthi is Someone pitted. But Thomas Luthi retakes the lead. Five laps to go. Luthi ran a 2:01.5 on the most recent lap.
Six laps left. Marques must try to get by Luthi. Pol Espargro wants to get to the leaders, but will he have time? Four laps left now. Scott Redding has passed Corsi and DeMiglio. But, the two riders fighting for the win are Luthi and Marques. Bradley Smith passed Alex de Angelis in ninth place. He'll at least get a finish. Three laps are left to run now. Marques isn't letting up on Luthi. Alex de Angelis dropped his bike. He's out of the race right at the end.
Luthi and Marques battle and then, Luthi ran wide! He loses spots. Marques will get a win, maybe. Luthi is out of contention! Ianonni passes Marques! Who wins? Marc Marques wins it!
